How to Find Your Perfect Perfume

How to Find Your Perfect Perfume

There are so many perfumes out there. On Copycat Fragrances’ site alone, there are several different scents, with each one inspired by the world’s best-loved colognes and eau de parfums.

The big question is – which is the right one for you? Without any further ado, here’s how to answer that question; what’s the perfect perfume for me?

Find my perfume – a quick quiz

  1. Do you like your fragrances to be:
    1. Fruity and fresh
    2. Sensual and aromatic
    3. Unusual and unexpected
  1. Are you planning to wear your fragrance:
    1. During the day
    2. During the evening
    3. At any time you please!
  1. Do you want your perfume to make you feel:
    1. Invigorated and lively
    2. Alluring and sexy
    3. Noticeable and powerful
  1. Do you like fragrances that are:
    1. Modern and fun

    3. Forward-thinking and different

If you got mainly A’s

The perfect perfume for you is one that features fruit as a leading ingredient (citrus, bergamot or apple, for example). These enticing, energetic top notes might be enhanced by rich woody base notes, or a hint of floral scent, such as jasmine or rose. Our fragrance that’s inspired by Neroli Portofino is a great match for you, or Aventus, which features apple and bergamot.

If you got mainly B’s

You prefer your great smelling perfume to be inviting and enigmatic, with more than a hint of raw sensuality. Search for fragrances that feature heady, exotic ingredients. This might include something like oud oil or amber; like our ‘inspired by’ Colonia Intensa Oud or Baccarat Rouge 540.

If you get mainly C’s

For you, the perfect perfume has to be unusual, and must ensure that you stand out from the crowd. Seek out fragrances with unexpected ingredients, such as pink pepper, leather or pineapple. Our version of Virgin Island Water is an excellent choice, as is the complex, endlessly fascinating F*cking Fabulous.

What makes a great smelling perfume?

Whether you’re looking for a great ‘lady’ perfume, or the ideal cologne for work, it’s important to remember that every taste is individual. Repeat this mantra – to find my perfect perfume, I have to realise that it’s what’s perfect for me, not everyone else!

Take the time to test them out. If you’ve got a department store nearby, pay them a visit. Ask to sample as many fragrances as possible, to give you an idea of what works for you. However, a word of warning. Department stores usually spray their samples on a piece of card, which isn’t quite the same as skin. And even worse, your sense of smell can swiftly get muddled by all the different scents.

Another option is to order some sample bottles from online retailers. You’ll have to pay a small price, but it’s worth it for the chance to test the perfumes out in a range of different situations.
